Children at work

Primary 3 in Castlehill Campbeltown.
Here’s what they were doing the week before the holidays. Real ICT enthusiasts, they’ve kept me learning, to keep them going.
I’ve been teaching since 1971, with a break when my son was young, and the last few years have been at this stage, although I do work at other stages to support in ICT related lessons. I campaign enthusiastically for ’seamless’ ICT and the ‘C’ therein, and to that end have been involved in several projects with other agencies and schools.
I am enthusiastic about what our children will be able to do with ICT in the future, though I worry about their use and my ability to prepare them sufficiently. So I always feel that I have to ‘get stuck in’ and explore anything new in this field. There will always be a use in the classroom.
I’ve been blogging on Blogspot, for myself and latterly with Morag, who was then at Tighnabruaich, with our talkingteds project in class, and found that it snuck into every area of the curriculum. I was interested to find the publication differences with edublogs. It’s lots easier after the first wee learning curve, though I could probably do with a spellchecker.

Welcome to Edublogs, Marlyn! I hope you find this just as easy as Blogger. I particularly like the fact that you can subscribe to comments in WordPress, which is sadly lacking in Blogger (although not in the ‘beta’ I hear!)

Anyway, I’m looking forward to reading all about what happens in Castlehill and the wider world of Kintyre – rumour also has it that you are presenting at SETT this year? How are preparations going?

Thanks Andrew. Think this will be easier than Blogger. Wonder if I can use it to trial sound and video files. Yep SETT is more than a rumour, but it is quite hard to get a joint presentation together given the geographics. We had a day together in the hols but that was just the planning phase, keynote style etc. We need to get together again.
    To others:
If you saw the blog yesterday, I got carried away with “In the meantime, why don’t you visit your new blog at http://edublogs.org, and set it up the way you would like” and went daft with the format etc to compare with blogger. Later posting was very very late, cos I’d been footering about with presentation. Think I might need a set of reins. See got stuck in again!

Hi Marlyn. I think edublogs is easier for soundfiles and stuff. I set up another class blog and was going to try somewhere else until I remembered it was easier to get sound onto edublogs.

Look forward to meeting you, Morag and the bears at SETT!

    Lynne,
Clicked on your name to post a comment on your blog and got server not found. Think there might be a dot missing in your link.

No, I had typed in my email address instead of blog address… Think it’s right now.
